Resource Owls was born from real conversations and real pain.

Our journey began in 2019 with Smiling Rainbow LGBTQ Counseling, a social enterprise created to offer affordable emotional support, skill-building, and safe spaces for connection. From the very beginning, it was not an NGO—we built it to stand on dignity, value, and sustainability.

What started as a small initiative quickly grew into hundreds of calls every month. People weren’t calling for advice alone—they were calling because they felt lonely, unheard, and emotionally exhausted. 

Over time, an important truth emerged.

While the platform was created for the LGBTQ community, most paid callers came from outside it. Despite deep need, fewer than 2% of callers were willing to pay, making the model impossible to sustain long-term. After nearly five years of dedication, we made the difficult but necessary decision to close Smiling Rainbow.

From that experience, Resource Owls Emotional Support was born. This is an inclusive, judgment-free platform for everyone—because loneliness doesn’t belong to any one identity. It affects us all.

At Resource Owls, we’re building a community where emotional support is valued, conversations are safe, and sustainability allows care to continue. Our mission is simple: To help people feel heard, connected, and less alone—while creating a platform that can truly last.

WHAT SERVICES ARE WE OFFERING IN RESOURCE OWLS?

LET'S TALK SESSIONS

We are offering affordable emotional support sessions as "Let's Talk Sessions." It will be one-to-one telephonic or video calling sessions in English, Hindi, and Bengali.

The core purpose of these sessions is to build a relationship and develop a strategy to cope with the loneliness issue. The second most important purpose of these sessions would be to develop a strategy where the accumulated team resources would help each other to achieve something big and meaningful.

These sessions are not ideal for mental health patients, and we never encourage people to consider these sessions as a substitute for mental health treatment. To know more about this service, please visit the Let's Talk page.

MEETUP EVENTS & GROUP

We organize online and offline meet-up sessions with like-minded people. These meet-up sessions will be affordable events where you will get the opportunity to meet like-minded people and exchange ideas.

The Online Meetup includes webinars, virtual workshops, meetings, etc. Our Offline Meetup includes workshops, meetings, get-togethers, weekend trips, and domestic and international tours. The purpose of these Meetup events would be to build a resourceful community.

Another service that we are offering is our exclusive Meetup group. This is an exclusive invite-only Meetup group that comes with many perks.

This is an absolutely free service for you all, and the core purpose of this service is to give you the scope to earn money.

RESOURCE OWLS: JOURNEY BEGINS

The privacy of our callers is of utmost importance to us, and we never compromise with that aspect.
We collect the bare minimum personal details from the clients that we need to proceed with our services. 
We never share clients' information with any third party without the client's consent. 
During Let's Talk Sessions, clients are allowed to turn off their cameras.
We only record case histories anonymously for future reference, research, awareness, and analysis purposes. 
Resource Owls is not a non-profit entity. We are committed to providing affordable services to our clients.
Presently, apart from Remote Jobs References, we don't provide any other free service.
Our Let's Talk Session is not an alternative to any psychiatric treatment.
